Behind the Shot: Sore Eye
Sore Eye is an image that reflects street portraiture, but street portraits are just one aspect of street storytelling photography. I am always searching for small stories within the scenes of street life. Each photo captures a real character in social life, someone I encounter while walking with my camera in hand.
In Sore Eye, I was fortunate to capture a woman with a pained expression in her eye. She was sitting at a bus stop when I passed by and took a close-up shot. In that brief moment, she looked directly at my camera, her gaze as intense as the pain in her eye. I felt as though I was capturing a moment of connection between us—more than just the technique of photography. I enjoy bringing my own perspective into the frame, arranging the scene to highlight the character I am photographing.
