Inversion, a compelling artistic intervention by the renowned artist
Danila Tkachenko, serves as a poignant traveling photo exhibition documenting the devastating consequences of Russian military aggression in Ukraine. This thought-provoking project was created with the support of the non-profit organization Gariwo and features a curated selection of powerful images.
Tkachenko collaborated with nine military photojournalists who each contributed to this impactful project. Twelve striking photographs were selected, capturing the stark realities of war and providing a window into the lives affected by the conflict.
The project launched with an inaugural exhibition at the Monte Stella Memorial Garden in Milan on May 6, 2023. This event marked the beginning of Inversion's journey across Europe, facilitated by the unwavering support of the
Gariwo organization.
Following the exhibition, a unique aluminum frame, measuring 2.80 by 3.76 meters, was constructed to display the twelve photographs. This mobile installation was designed to be showcased against the backdrop of landmarks in seven different European cities, creating a dynamic and interactive experience for viewers.
Inversion also poignantly involves twelve Ukrainian refugees who have found safety in European cities, further highlighting the human dimension of the crisis. These individuals lend their voices and stories to the project, enhancing its emotional depth and resonance.
All proceeds from the Inversion project are dedicated to supporting Ukrainian army units, providing much-needed aid and demonstrating a tangible commitment to those on the front lines of the conflict.
Inversion is not just an exhibition; it is a powerful testament to the resilience of the human spirit and a call to action for global awareness and support.
