Calderon de la Barca’s Life is a Dream could be used
to describe our selection for Paris Photo 2024. We are
presenting prints by three of our photographers whose
work is closely linked to literature, poetry or fiction.
Israel Ariño’s series, Res no passa dues vegades,
takes its title from a poem by Polish author Wisława
Szymborska. In it, he explores the possibilities of
photography to reveal the extraordinary in the ordinary,
to alter the appearance of reality.
Swedish photographer Martin Bogren’s A Summer of a
Thousand Years is a kind of amorous escape bathed
in an almost blinding light. His lactescent photographs
seem to be rubbed with reality, subtly composing an
evocative, almost fairytale-like narrative, so imbued are
they with both wonder and timelessness.
We are exhibiting two series by Nolwenn Brod:
Riverrun, made in Ireland, and an extract from the last
part of the series Le temps de l’immaturité, made in
Argentina, in the footsteps of Witold Gombrowicz.
Without any descriptive intention, her portraits and
landscapes compose a constellation of fragments that
confront, respond to and intertwine with each other.

Sucedió entre dos párpados
We present a selection of prints made by the artist from
the series featured in the eponymous book published
by Anómalas. They are an expression of the very
substance of the Spanish master’s work, and of his
surrealist vein. These photographs are accompanied
by images of other photographers influenced by
surrealism: Israel Ariño, Magali Lambert and Yves
Trémorin.

Giljung Yoon
Trees, endure for Life
We are devoting an exhibition to the sublime prints
of Korean photographer Giljung Yoon, exhibited in
France for the first time. For the last 10 years, he
has been photographing the willow trees on Hyungdo
Island, which, because of the salt that rises from the
ground after land reclamation, cannot take deep root.
But the trees, now lying with their roots exposed,
have chosen a second life rather than death.
