The problem of an aging population is one of the most pressing issues of our time. Nowadays, older people increasingly find themselves lonely and without support from their loved ones. One typical situation is the story of an elderly woman who does not want to leave her village home due to attachment to the place and memories, while her daughter is unable to take her in due to a lack of space.
This complex situation requires finding a way out, based on the needs and wishes of both parties. Involving a geriatric service or another specialized organization that can assist the elderly woman and lighten her daughter's burden could be helpful. However, such a service does not exist in the village. The mother and daughter are happy to spend time together, but they live far apart and often cannot see each other.
They are separated by 600 km of poor roads. The daughter works a lot to pay off the mortgage; she cannot bring her mother to live with her because there is little space in the apartment for her and her husband. Moreover, the old woman does not want to leave the home where she spent her entire life, where her husband and son are buried. She is tied to the memories of generations in this place.
The daughter is in relatively comfortable conditions - she has an urban apartment, while the mother lives in a house without hot water. She faces difficulties in accessing medical services, etc. However, this would be acceptable if both women weren't feeling so bad emotionally. The daughter lives with a sense of guilt, while the mother feels grief and separation.
The separation of the mother and daughter is a great pain, and it is unclear whether this situation can be resolved in any way.
