We’re thrilled to partner with
Peter Caton and
Dewi Lewis Publishing for the launch of his Kickstarter campaign to bring his powerful book, Unyielding Floods, to life. Set for publication in September, this book sheds light on one of the most devastating yet overlooked climate crises in the world today.
The Kickstarter goes live on Tuesday, March 18th – and we need your support!
We first discovered Peter’s remarkable work through the
All About Photo Awards 2021 and his powerful portrait series featured in
AAP Magazine #17: Portrait. Since then, his dedication to documenting humanitarian crises has only grown stronger.
Peter Caton is an award-winning documentary photographer who has spent nearly two decades covering humanitarian crises, with the last ten years dedicated to documenting climate-related disasters in Africa. Over the past six years, he has focused on the catastrophic floods in South Sudan, where communities are fighting to save their homes, land, and livelihoods against unrelenting waters.
Unlike most floods, these waters refuse to recede. Now in their sixth year, they have left millions in acute food insecurity, battling malaria, waterborne diseases, and the daily threat of displacement. According to the World Food Program (WFP), two-thirds of South Sudan’s population is facing hunger, and the situation is only worsening as global temperatures rise.
The South Sudanese people may represent the world’s first permanent mass displacement due to climate change. But in the face of disaster, I found extraordinary resilience. I felt a moral obligation to document their fight and share their voices with the world. – Peter Caton
Peter’s award-winning images have already been recognized globally, featured in The Sunday Times, NPR, The Guardian, The Telegraph, Der Spiegel, El Pais, GEO, and more. His work has also been exhibited in London, Berlin, Paris, New York, Tokyo, and Istanbul.
With your help, we can turn this critically acclaimed body of work into a powerful book—a lasting testament to the impact of climate change and the strength of those fighting against it.
Join us in making this book a reality. Support the Kickstarter on March 18th and be part of the movement!
