At this moment of crisis and change, the Museum of the City of New York wants to share your stories of how our city is experiencing both the COVID-19 pandemic and the uprising against police violence. Beginning on July 23, the Museum will unveil the first phase of an outdoor installation featuring some of the many images that have already been submitted to us. This will serve as a starting point for a new exhibition that will open at the Museum later this year to tell the stories of 2020 and imagine what's next for our city.
The outdoor exhibit will incorporate photographs that document this singular moment in New York City history. On view on the terrace and balustrade at Museum of the City of New York, the outdoor presentation features a small selection culled from the 15,000+ images submitted to the Museum's open calls -- #CovidStoriesNYC and #ActivistNY. The installation offers a starting point for a new exhibition that will open at MCNY later this year which will tell the stories of 2020 and imagine what's next for our city.
