PhotoAlliance is proud to announce an open call for Bay Area Current(ly), a photographic competition. We are looking for images that represent a cohesive body of work or project. Submissions may be new, recently completed, or part of an on-going project, but must include work that has been made since June 2019. A typical submission will consist of 5 images that capture the essence of your project, although there is no restriction on the number of images you submit (see entrance fees below).

Bay Area Current(ly) is open to anyone who has ever resided in, or is currently a resident of any of the nine counties that surround the San Francisco Bay. This is the second iteration of our Bay Area Currents series established to provide an opportunity for local artists working with photography to exhibit in the Bay Area and to discover and connect with other artists in the community. See selected works from 2018 Bay Area Currents competition.

There is no single theme for this call, instead we are looking to see what you have been up to of late. A broad range of interpretations through photography is invited, including documentary, expressive, or experimental. Submissions may be depicted in any style and utilize any process or camera type.

The 2020 Bay Area Current(ly) exhibition will be an online exhibition, appearing on the PhotoAlliance website from November 1 through December 31, 2020.
