We have some big news to share.

Shoot The Frame is launching its very first Annual Awards.

Since 2012, Shoot The Frame has celebrated photography through our monthly portrait, landscape, and wildlife awards. Over the past 13 years, thousands of photographers from around the world have shared their craft, their stories, and their imagery.

In 2025, Shoot The Frame is evolving.

The monthly contests are now on pause as we introduce the Shoot The Frame Annual Awards — a global celebration of photography that allows us to go deeper into storytelling and recognition of photographers across an entire year.

Categories

This year, the focus is on portrait photography, celebrated through two categories:

One Frame
Honouring the power of a single photographic portrait. You may submit as many images as you like, with each judged on its individual merit.

Photo Essay
A curated series of up to 15 portraits that connect as a complete body of work. Visual stories told through tone, subject, or theme, and judged as one unified entry.

Prizes

We have some incredible prizes lined up, including USD $4,000 in cash. Over the coming weeks, we’ll introduce you to our prize partners.

There is only a thin membrane between what the world sees and the lived reality of my life. I may seem fine as I mask the pain, but if you excavate, even just a little, you will find it is all completely raw. I am lost in the ebb and flow of pain, of heartbreak and despair. I am angry. I am difficult. I am defeated
